Broadening Participation: 2024 MPS Workshop for New Investigators

In Person Workshop on July 7-9, 2024

Westin Alexandria Old Town, Alexandria, VA

The University of Florida, in collaboration with the NSF Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS), will be hosting a workshop for new and future Principal Investigators. New researchers, assistant professors, and exceptional postdocs considering academic careers are encouraged to apply. Investigators from underrepresented groups in STEM are especially encouraged to apply. The main goal of the workshop is two-fold: (1) to provide prospective Principal Investigators who are considering applying for funding from the MPS programs, or who have just received their first award programs with valuable information and advice on the policies, procedures, and opportunities available at NSF, (2) to familiarize new investigators with the NSF process and encourage volunteering to review proposals and/or serve on review panels as a way to learn more about it. In addition to informational presentations on various topics relevant to the future PIs, each participant will write a mock proposal in advance and will go through full panel review processes in breakout sessions.  Details on the workshop program will be announced.
